Spotlight: Dairy Business Grants
We graciously thank everyone who applied for the recent Round 6 funding cycle. We received FIFTY EIGHT applications totaling nearly $6.2 million dollars in request.
Background
As originally proposed, the PCC-DBII has a known $150,000 available and an additional $345,000 awarded but the contract is not yet finalized with USDA AMS. The original plan was to accept applications in October, review in November, and select awardees to enable spending on December 1. Although the recent government shutdown has concluded, we are told that the PCC (along with other DBIIs in Vermont, Wisconsin, and Tennessee) application is still being reviewed by USDA AMS and the timeline is unknown.
The $345,000 amount represents all of the funds available from the 2025 award that spans from 2025-2028 (i.e., the PCC is frontloading all funds to provide the maximum funds avaiable fastest for you to achieve impacts).
Revised Round 6 Plan: Applications were grouped into two categories: Those <$100K and those >$100K. By doing this, the PCC is able to recommend seven businesses for funding from the available $150,000 (which is double what we thought we would be able to do with these dollars). As originally proposed, these businesses will be able to start spending on December 1, or very close.
You’ll be seeing press releases and other updates in the coming weeks regarding the initial $150,000 and the seven award winners.
The remainder of the applications (those >$100K) will be reviewed once the 2025 award documents are finalized between the USDA AMS and the Fresno State Foundation. We hope those recommended dairy business awards can be announced soon thereafter.
