Spotlight: Tround 6 Grants Awarded!

We received FIFTY EIGHT applications totaling nearly $6.2 million dollars in requests.

The PCC-DBII, hosted by California State University, Fresno, is announcing seven winners of the sixth round of grant funding which ranged from $10,000-$50,000. Dairy processors in the Pacific Coast region are receiving funds to strengthen the industry and small creameries.

“Such funding changes lives, gives hope, and builds community,” said PCC Project Director and “Cowkeeper” Susan Pheasant, Ph.D. “Dairy processors benefit from new equipment, enhanced university pilot plants for troubleshooting/product development, and more tools for dairy success stories.”

Awardees range from generational farms and women-owned producers to new artisans of cheese, ice cream, and more. Applications focus on:

  • Products and methods connected to value-added product development
  • Product line expansion
  • Alternative processing technologies or sustainability enhancement methods that increase profitability across an entire milkshed

“Thanks to such resources, the West Coast region is building a stronger dairy presence,” said PCC-DBII Project Director Carmen Licon, Ph.D., “These awardees will now receive time-saving equipment, strategies to expand regional approaches to milk sheds, and additional resources.”
